When you hear the words “You have breast cancer,” your world changes in an instant. There are new appointments to keep, treatments to endure, and emotions that swing like a pendulum. It’s overwhelming—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And while you may be strong, no one is meant to walk this journey alone.
That’s where a Battle Buddy comes in.
A Battle Buddy is someone who stands beside you in life’s hardest battles. They remind you of who you are in Christ when fear and fatigue try to steal your hope. They’re the friend who shows up on treatment days, sends the “thinking of you” text at just the right moment, and gently calls you out when you start speaking defeat over your life.
As Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, “Two are better than one… If either of them falls, one can help the other up.”
My Battle Buddy Story
When I was going through cancer, I didn’t have a Battle Buddy. There were days I faced the journey feeling completely alone—no one who truly understood the mix of fear, faith, exhaustion, and determination I carried. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping others find (or become) one now. I know firsthand the difference it can make.
One Person or a Team
Sometimes you’re blessed with one Battle Buddy who can walk with you through the entire fight. But it doesn’t always work that way—and that’s okay. You might have a few different people who can each do a little:
- One friend who checks in with encouraging texts.
- Another who takes you to appointments.
- Someone else who prays with you or brings a meal.
Your “Battle Buddy” doesn’t have to be just one person—it can be your whole circle of support.
